It is assumed that the ferry communication Donghae (Korea) – Sakaiminato (Japan) – Vladivostok (Russia) will be opened in the near future.

A number of bilateral meetings of the governor of Primorye Territory Sergey Darkin and the governors of the Northeast Asia regions took place within the limits of the 13th Summit on the international exchange and cooperation of the local administration of the Northeast Asia countries, informed in the press-service of regional administration. In particular Sergey Darkin has discussed the issues of the economy cooperation with the governor of the Tottori prefecture Hirai Shinji.

The sides have noted the importance of the opening of the new cargo and passenger ferry line Donghae (Korea) – Sakaiminato (Japan) – Vladivostok (Russia). It is assumed that the ferry communication will be opened in February of the next year. The vessel with the passenger capacity of 600 people and the cargo capacity of 160 twenty-foot containers will come to Vladivostok on Tuesdays. The new route will stir up the cooperation between the regions in the field of trade and tourism.

During the meeting of Srgey Darkin with the governor of the South Korean province Gangwon Kim Jin Soon the sides have also discussed the possibility of the development of transport and logistics schemes in the region. The talk in particular was about the development of the transit cargo and passenger line Sokcho-Zarubino and realization of the projects on development of inter-regional boundary connections.

The sides have also discussed the issues of modernization of the railways Khasan-Rajin. /the opening of this line is planned for the next month.
