Russian bathyscaphes arose from the Arctic bottom

First in history deep-water submersion of bathyscaphes on the North Pole has ended. Two vehicles "Mir" performed "a leap in the abyss". They have returned from the depth of 4 kilometers with the test of water and ground for research. "Mir-1" returned at 18:08 of Moscow time coming to the surface from 4261 meter depth.
More than an hour later another bathyscaphe with an international crew aboard came to the surface from 4302 meters depth.
It spent 9 hours and 280 minutes under water. "The rise took more time", explained vice president of polar explorers Association Vladimir Strugatsky.
