Russia’s sports teams will have preparation sessions for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Primorye which borders China, the next host of the games.
The Russian boxing and beach volleyball teams, as well as Ukraine’s swimming team, will head to Primorye in late July to take part in a two-week acclimatization period, a press statement from the regional administration reported.
The team members will be provided with quality training facilities and will also be offered a cultural adaptation course. The program also includes seminars for the coaches, the statement said.
According to the statement, Primorye sportsmen will benefit from pre-Olympic preparation as well, with an opportunity to master their skills by attending Russian teams’ training sessions and competing as sparring partners.
The 29th Olympic Games will be held from August 8-24 at the National Stadium in Beijing. A total of around 10,500 athletes are expected to participate in the Games, competing in a wide range of sports including everything from cycling and volleyball to badminton and wrestling.
