Russian sea border guards have detained four North Korean fishing boats off coasts of the Primorye region over the past 24 hours.
A spokesman at the regional border department of the Russian Federal Security Service told ITAR-TASS on Friday that 340 kilograms of squid and 12 nets were seized from the North Koreans.
The fishermen were taken to a detention ward of the Khasan border detachment.
The latest case of detaining North Korean poachers occurred only two days ago.
The border guards stopped two fishing boats with 700 kilograms of squid on the board.
“Despite repeated addresses of the Primorye regional department of the Federal Security Service to the North Korean side about tightening measures to prevent violations of the Russian-Korean state border, violations on the part of North Korea’s ships are continuing. There have been over 90 since the beginning of this year,” the department said.
