During the phone talk Medvedev and Aso came to agreement that it is necessary to seriously respond to the actions of North Korea that make a challenge to the system of international security.

The Russian leader appealed to his collocutor to refrain from public statements and rhetoric on sensitive issues of bilateral relations.

Telephone conversation between them took place at the initiative of the Japanese side.

"Medvedev and Aso discussed the situation regarding the conducted by DPRK underground nuclear test launches of short-range missiles and the declaration on the resumption of nuclear programs - said the press service. - The sides agreed that it is necessary to seriously respond to these steps representing the affront to the system of international security. The intention to coordinate the formulation of measures adequate to the situation and its solution, which will be included in a new resolution to the Security Council, was announced."
