The families of Primorye have made 5 302 applications for maternity capital from the beginning of this year. Since the inception of the program (January 2007) more than nine thousand parents received the certificates for maternal capital.

The decision to pay a lump sum to families, where the second (subsequent) child was born was accepted by the Government of the Russian Federation in the end of 2006. The main point of such step is to support the families with children, increase the birth rate in the country.


The size of the parent capital in January 2007 amounted to 250 thousand rubles. Since July 1 it was indexed by 10 per cent due to the refined forecast of inflation in the country and is now 276 thousand 250 rubles.


Parents will be able use the maternal capital only when the child achieves the age of three.

On this money the family can improve living conditions or to fund education of any of the children or to send part of the sum on the mother’s labor pension.
