Far East Russia
Federal Center will send 1 trillion 199 billion rubles to the development of transport complex of the Far East and Zabaikalye in 2010-2015 Year.
That is seven times more than in the previous eight years. The Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Andrei Nedosekov said this prior to the meeting of Minregion interagency committee to develop a strategy for socio-economic development of regions.
675 billion rubles of this amount will be sent to implement the rail projects.
According to Nedosekov currently 23 major fields in the Far East are not developed because of the lack of transport infrastructure. In connection with this, the Government in considering projects seeking support of the Investfond, prefers projects aimed, among other things, on development of resources and transport in the Far East and Baikal.
The Deputy Minister also stressed that the existing automobile net in the Far East meets the needs of the freight transportation only by 5%. In this respect, most of the burden falls on railway transport, hence the increase in funding railway network.
