Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed into effect a law on organizing a planned 2012 summit of Asia-
Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) a forum of Pacific Rim countries.


The text of the law, entitled "On the Organization of the Meeting in 2012 of the Heads of State and Heads of Government of the Participant Countries of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, On the Development of Vladivostok As a Center of International Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region, and On Changes to Individual Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation," is posted on the Russian president's website.

The law was passed by the State Duma on April 24 and approved by the Federation Council on April 29, 2009.
