Far East Russia
The Deputy of the Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Far Eastern Federal District of Russia Alexander Levintal met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore in the Russian Federation Mr. Simon de Cruz.
Levintal gave words of appreciation and hope for the development of Russian-Singaporean cooperation of the Plenipotentiary Representative of RF President in the Far Eastern Federal District Viktor Ishaev. According to him, Victor Ishaev while visiting Singapore with the delegation of the RF President Dmitry Medvedev praised the breadth and the need of trade development, economic and investment cooperation between our countries, including between the Russian Far East and Singapore.
The deputy of the envoy added that Victor Ishaev exemplified Singapore to the authorities of the regions of the Far East for implementing the project "Electronic Government" and suggested the Far East to study the experience of that country to implement electronic technologies for the delivery of public services. Simon de Cruz invited the Far East to Singapore to study the developments on this project.
Levintal spoke about investment opportunities in all subjects of the federation members of the Far Eastern federal district, noting that the turnover of the Russian Far East and Singapore in 2009 was 53 million dollars. "The Far East has great potential for cooperation with Singapore in the field of tourism, education, development of sea ports, air service, logistics, shipbuilding, as well as in mining and manufacturing industries", - he said.
Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore said that Singapore's business is gradually beginning to show interest in the Russian Far East, although previously all attention was directed to the center of Russia. Simon de Cruz said that during a trip to the Far East he is exploring the possibility of participation of Singapore's business in the preparations for the APEC summit in Vladivostok, as well as in port special economic zone in Sovetskaya Gavan.
