The chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Primorye Territory Victor Gorchakov has met the minister-advisor on the press, culture and education of the USA Embassy in Moscow Mr. James Kinny.

Mr. Kinny informed that this is his fist visit to the Primorye Territory and he thought that it was necessary to meet the chairman of the Primorye parliament. As a specialist in science and education James Kinny was interested in the chairman’s opinion on the realization of the new agreement that was concluded between the Ministry of Education of Russian Federation and the Education Department of United States. This is the first big scale project on the educational exchange and university partnership for the past years: “This agreement is notable because it is concluded between two countries meaning that it has a state support and the financial insurance will broaden the available possibilities”. The agreement determines the directions for the cooperation in such way that from the 2007 the specialists of the prestigious universities will be able to start participating in the joint science and educational programs with colleagues from national science labs from USA.
In Victor Gorchakov’s opinion such cooperation will be extremely useful for the universities of Primorye, all the more that the task to improve the educational quality is set on the threshold of the APEC forum in Vladivostok in 2012.
The project of creation of the Presidential Library and its filial in every region of the country was discussed at the meeting. By the words of Victor Gorchakov the construction of a new building of the Regional Library will become an important aspect of the library section consolidation.
The chairman of the Legislative Assembly Victor Gorchakov has expressed the confidence that such meetings are extremely important for the development of the bilateral relations especially taking into account the celebration of 200 anniversary of the diplomatic relations between our countries.
