Primorye Territory
Primorye's Governor Sergei Darkin has asked Vyacheslav Fetisov to help with sport complex construction in Vladivostok.
It is the first request of Primorye residents to Fetisov as a representative of the territory in the Federation Council.
The project to build a concert and sport 7,500-seat complex with a large skating arena is suspended due to problems with provision of a land area for construction, the territorial administration press centre told.
Fetisov this Friday was elected a representative of the Primorsky Territory's legislature to the Federation Council and as the representative met with Governor Darkin. They discussed sport development in the territory. The governor drew attention to hockey development in the region. It is popular in Primorye, and construction of covered skating complexes will allow going in for the sport all the year round, he said.
There are two professional hockey teams in Primorye, and they need support. Fetisov on Thursday played in one of them. "I am pleased that serious attention is paid in Primorye to sport, that gymnasiums, skating rinks and swimming pools are built, and young people choose an active way of life," he said, adding that full stands confirmed it.
Much attention is paid on the state level to physical culture and sport development. A law on sport is worked out, he noted. "I think sport becomes one of priority directions in the state policy," he said.
Fetisov this Friday will participate in the celebration marking the 70th anniversary of the Primorsky Territory's formation and in the conference of the United Russia party's regional branch.
