Primorye Territory
From 13 to 19 of March a Week of French cinema will take place in the Primorye territory.
A cultural platform of the week in Vladivostok will become a cinema complex "Ocean". Seven most popular French films of recent years will be presented there. All tapes will be shown with simultaneous translation into Russian.
One of the films of the Week will be introduced to the viewers by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France in Russia Stanislav Lefebvre, who will arrive in the regional Center on March 16. The management of the International Film Festival "Pacific Meridian” holds a Week under the support of the French Embassy in Russia, and public organization "Alliance Francais", the grand opening of which is timed with this event.
Vladivostok will be the 13th consecutive city of Russia where the representation of “Alliance Francais" will appear. The organization will be engaged in the joint cultural and artistic projects of Russia and France.
The “French Film Week" will be held in the region for the fourth time. In 2005 film festival “French cinema today” was held in the region for the first time. Primorye was the first region in Russia which took on its land film festival, which had been held only in Moscow. Week of French Cinema-2008 will also be a continuation of the Week of Franco-German film, which was held in Vladivostok from 6 to 10 March.
The French project organizers have made their choice in favor of Primorye Territory not accidently. Primorye firmly holds the status of cinematic region. This is evidenced by the strong interest of world public opinion in the International Film Festival of APR countries “Pacific Meridian", which is taking place in Primorye since 2003.
In addition, the French side appreciated the interest that residents of Primorye have shown for the culture of world cinema homeland.
