An archeological finds of Hermitage-class were discovered on the Kurils on the latest complex scientific expedition.
Now the incredible artifacts are studied and in autumn visitors of Sakhakin Regional Museum of Local Lore (SRMLL) will be able to see them. Kurulian complex project is the result of cooperation between SRMLL, IMGG of FEB RAS, universities of Washington, Hokkaido and representatives of scientific world of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kamchatka, Vladivostok, etc. Expedition is financed with the grant of National scientific fund of USA. As the chief of SRMLL archeological laboratory Valeriy Shubin informed, the scientific expedition on the Kurils went from 18th of July till 14th of August. The composition of expedition is impressive, it includes 35 specialists on archeology, volcanology, geology, geophysics, biology and ecology. Extremely interesting finds are pieces of art. Work instruments and household goods are also items of great value. They were presumably made by the people of Okhotskaya culture. The age of the finds is about 1500-2000 years. By the words of V. Shubin such complex research of the Kurils hasn’t been done since 1946. The results of expedition are impressive. As Shubin told, the complex research of the Kurils will continue next year.
