Primorye Territory
A united State nature reserve of federal significance “Leopardovy” was created in Primorye. This was done by combining two protected areas: the «Barsovy» reserve and the «Borisovskoe plateau».
According to Head of the Department of Natural Resources of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kaplenko, this merger creates a united specially protected natural area for the Amur leopard, which would provide reliable protection of this specie, save it in the territory of Primorye and for the whole world. The Amur leopard today is the rarest type of felines on the planet, there only left about 40 animals.
Traditionally much attention is given to the protection of nature. A set of measures aimed at preserving the unique flora and fauna is conducted in the reserves.
One of the last year’s important events for the region became the establishment of two national parks “Zov Tigra” (“The call of tiger”) and “Udegeyskaya legend”.
However, the work of the traditional international forum “Nature without borders” is directed on the decision of environmental challenges that opened today in Vladivostok. Environmentalists, scientists, business community of Russia and foreign countries once again gathered to contribute to the preservation of the unique nature of Primorye.
