The “Vostochniy” cosmodrome that is being created in the Amur region will start its work in 2015.
According to the Independent News Agency, the head of the Federal Space Agency head Anatoly PERMINOV informed about that on the Day of Cosmonautics reported. According to him, the first launch of a launch vehicle from the new cosmodrome will take place in 2015, the first manned launch is planned for 2018. At the same time, Russia will use Baikonur until 2050, as provided for the intergovernmental agreement on the lease.
Talking about the prospects of development of Russian cosmonautics the head of Roscosmos stressed that Russia intends to build on-orbit plant for assembly of space ships for flights to the Moon and Mars. Roscosmos proposed the establishment of a manned assembly complex in Earth orbit. The government of the country at the Security Council on April 11 supported the idea. The ships that are too heavy to launch from the ground will be built there.
